Technical Platform for Protein-Drugs Engineering

In the past five years, the Technology Center of Kanghong Pharmaceuticals Group, through cooperating with Weichil Institute in the United States, has successfully established a technology platform for protein-drugs which combines computer simulation of protein structures, high throughput screening of in vitro protein activities and animal model validation of biological activities. Based on this platform, we have successfully developed a series of genetically engineered protein drugs (National class-I: biological drugs; KH902 and KH903). 

Technology Platform of Genetic Therapy

The technical platform for genetic therapy research & development built successfully by the Technology Center can conduct the following researches: Tumor-associated gene isolation and gene promoter cloning; the restructuring of adenoviral gene-regulated components and the construction of replicating oncolytic virus; and the development of Chinese production process and the establishment of the quality standard system for Chinese products. By using this technical platform, we have successfully developed six types of tumor cell-specific oncolytic virus, of which KH901 is selected as the first such product that receives the development. KH901 has applied for Chinese patent and PCT patent. 

Technology Platform of Industry-scale Production of Biomedicine

The Technology Center has successfully constructed a stable and efficient technology platform of mammalian cell protein-drug production and adenovirus production at industry-scale. The Technology Center utilizing suspension cell culture technology to produce KH901, has  reached a similar production yield of similar foreign products, and has already started production & service cooperation with a number of domestic and foreign enterprises. In aspect of culturing technology of CHO suspension cells in a serum-free dynamic perfusion bioreactor to produce protein drugs in a large-scale, the Technology Center of Kanghong Pharmaceuticals Group holds a leading position in the domestic relevant field.

Technology Platform of Drug Screening and Evaluation  

To develop new medicines in the areas of psychology, neurology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, and oncology, various screening models  have been established from levels of body, organs, tissues, cells and molecules, including¡¡models that target the G protein-coupled receptors and various enzymes, and animal models for diabetes, high blood pressure and heart-beating disorders. The established models are used to evaluate the efficacy of various traditional medicines, natural medicines and chemical medicines. One example is a rat model utilized to evaluate extracts from Chinese traditional medicines on protection of the cardiovascular vessels.      

Technology Platform of Mid-phase Development of Chinese Natural Medicine

Mid-phase development aims to verify and improve rationale of the medical preparation process designed in the lab, and therefore is an absolutely necessary step to obtain a stable production and operation as it is directly linked to the safety, effectiveness and quality check of the medicine. The Technology Center, through many years¡¯ efforts, has set up a mid-phase development technology platform for Chinese natural medicine with a number of skilled technicians with rich experience in production testifying experiment to transform a lab-designed test to a mass drug production. Currently the center has owned a wealth of equipments including herbs-frying machines, extricating machines, concentrating machines, spraying and drying facilities, big-caliber pillars for ionic resin exchange, oral-syrup filling machines, bottle-cap pressing devices, capsule-filling machines, and tablet pressing machines, etc. This platform has facilitated successfully scale-up production of many new products including the coughing capsules (Keganshuangqing) and the liver-disease capsules (Suganjieyu).     

    
Technology Platform of Novel Medical Formulation

Novel medical formulation  based on new technology, methodology, and materials can take effect in the body with accurate rate, predetermined time, specified body parts as well as required disease treatments. It is also characterized by efficiency, long-term effectiveness, instant effect, minimized side-effects, limited dosage, and user-friendliness. The Technology Center spares no efforts to push forward setting up platforms for novel oral formulation technologies such as quick-released tablets and oral disintegrated tablets. These technology platforms enable the company to successfully develop and market a number of new medicines such as Venlafaxine Hydrochloride Capsule¡± (Trade Name: Blossom), ¡°Aripiprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablet¡± (Trade Name: Brisking), and ¡°Songling Xuemaikang Capsule¡±. Currently two technology-advanced new drugs are in process of experimenting with many up-to-date technologies. The Technology Center has now own many new types of professional medical formulation equipments. 

Technology Platform of Bio-informatics Research 

Bio-informatics is a new discipline formed by interdisciplinary interaction between biology, computing science, applied math and other disciplines. It aims to reveal biological information of experimental data by acquisition, processing, storage, and retrieval and analysis. The Technology Center, through a few years of efforts, has established analytical methods of bio-informatics and pharmacogenomics, and have applied these methods on disease tissues to study the on-setting mechanism of certain diseases as well as the operation mechanism of developed drugs.
